"Covert Activities"

sometimes boredom is a cover
for more interesting things—
reviewing last night's pleasures
or renditions of prized arias,
reciting childhood poems and
retrieving long-lost lines

boredom can conceal a raft
of often "idle" pastimes
such as writing short poetry
while singing in one's head
Bolero with percussion from

smiling all the while
where no one else can see
